SHIP TO SHORE: THE VANTAGE SAFE TRAVELS INITIATIVE

During our 37 years as a deluxe travel company, we’ve planned our journeys around memorable destinations and experiences with your health, safety, and security always in mind. Now, following guidance from the World Health Organization, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and local governments, we’re taking it to the next level. Working with the European Barge Union and Switzerland-based River Advice, the leading independent global manager of ships on inland waterways, we’re implementing vital health & safety assurances on all of our journeys, so you can keep making extraordinary travel memories with complete peace of mind.

Please note that all guests are now required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 14 days prior to departure of their Vantage journey. If you have questions, you may find your answers on our FAQ page.

PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW BEFORE YOUR VANTAGE JOURNEY:

We’re following stringent guidelines to protect our travelers, associates, and crew across all Vantage journeys. But to do this, we also need your participation before your journey commences. Here’s how:
  • All travelers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 14 days prior to departure of their journey. Travelers will be required to produce their vaccine card displaying their name, date of doses, and vaccine type to embark. Travelers who cannot product proof of vaccination will have to return home at their own expense
  • Entry into most countries will require you to show proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test. For country-specific information about entry requirements and COVID-19 status, visit the U.S. State Department’s COVID-19 Country Specific Information page
  • To ensure that travelers have a smooth travel experience, know the requirements for both your specific airline carrier and the country you’ll arrive in prior to your departure
  • Prior to departure, travelers should adhere to recommended safe practices as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Vantage will supply all travelers with one reusable cloth mask, but we encourage travelers to bring extra, as well as any other personal protective equipment. Masks will be required in public areas of the ship on ocean and river cruises, and where local regulations require them to be worn on shore
  • Upon arrival, travelers will be required to complete a wellness declaration pledging no contact with at-risk persons and no symptoms of illness
  • Temperature will be checked prior to land tours/before embarkation
Please note: Based on information travelers provide in their wellness declarations and/or additional evaluation upon arrival, Vantage reserves the right to take any and all appropriate steps to protect the well-being of our travelers and associates, including returning travelers home. Any additional medical costs and or return travel will be at travelers’ expense.

For additional security, we encourage you to sign up for our Travel Protection Plan, which lets you cancel for any reason, anytime.

RIVER & SMALL SHIP CRUISES

ONBOARD SAFEGUARDS TO KEEP YOU, OUR ASSOCIATES & CREW HEALTHY:

We’ve reinforced our rigorous sanitation protocols for 2020 sailings and beyond:
  • Social distancing will be enforced, and extra masks and hand sanitizer will be provided
  • Associates who have traveled prior will undergo testing, 14-day self-quarantine, and secure medical clearance before returning to work
  • Crew members will wear masks in public areas
  • The staff has been retrained in infection control, social distancing, and hygiene measures
  • We’ll have contact information for medical facilities at every port visited, in the eventuality that anybody needs medical attention
  • All staff and crew members are required to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to serving you on your journey

DURING YOUR CRUISE:

We aim to monitor the health of everyone onboard without interrupting your overall experience. Here’s how we plan to do it:

Associates & crew:

  • Before embarkation and every morning throughout your cruise, our staff will undergo routine temperature checks
  • Our crew will disinfect all luggage upon arrival
  • Social distancing will be enforced in crew quarters, which will be routinely sanitized
  • Kitchen supplies and equipment will be routinely sanitized

Dining:

  • Dining rooms/lounges have been reoutfitted to ensure a minimum of at least 1.5 meters between tables, which may result in two seating times during meals on board
  • Buffet at mealtime has been eliminated; your food will be served at your table
  • Communal table items (salt, pepper, and bread baskets) have been removed; you’ll be served these individually

Public areas:

  • Public areas will be adjusted, so you can enjoy them safely distanced from other guests
  • New housekeeping and sanitation procedures have been implemented, with increased sanitation at scheduled times, emphasizing high-touch areas
  • Self-service areas have been suspended, and extraneous items (such as books), removed
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed around the ship
  • We’ll have a supply of hand sanitizer and disposable masks (Please note: We strongly encourage travelers to bring their own supplies and utilize the reusable mask provided)
  • Communal items (bicycles, gym equipment, and umbrellas) will be routinely disinfected
  • New signage onboard will remind you of social distancing protocols, which will also be enforced by the Vantage team

Transportation:

  • Travelers are encouraged to wait in their cabins/outside before departing on excursions via bus/motorcoach
  • To ensure social distancing, each vehicle will transport a reduced number of travelers
  • Seats will be cleaned daily and in-between groups
  • Additional hand sanitizer dispensers will be available; personal masks and hand sanitizer will also be supplied if travelers do not have their own
  • All included and optional tours will be conducted in accordance with local government regulations

SAFARIS & LAND ADVENTURES

DURING YOUR LAND TOUR:

The majority of our adventures feature small groups of 24 travelers or fewer. This makes it easier for us to monitor the health of all travelers without compromising the quality of your experience. Here are a few ways we’re making that possible:

Our Associates:

  • Social distancing protocols will be enforced by Vantage associates, who will have extra additional masks and hand sanitizer for travelers (Please note: We strongly encourage travelers to bring their own supplies and utilize the reusable mask provided)
  • Associates will be tested before work and must possess a medical clearance certificate
  • All staff will wear masks in public areas
  • Associates will self-administer temperature checks each morning
  • All Vantage associates are required to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to serving you on your journey. While we can't guarantee that the third party vendors we work with will be vaccinated, we can ensure that we will take appropriate safety measures to keep our travelers safe throughout their journey

Transportation:

  • Travelers are encouraged to wait in their hotel rooms/tents or outside before departing on excursions via bus/motorcoach
  • To ensure social distancing, each vehicle will transport a reduced number of travelers
  • Safari activities are restricted to individual groups or a maximum of 6 people per vehicle
  • Seats will be cleaned daily and in-between groups
  • Additional hand sanitizer dispensers will be available; personal masks and hand sanitizer will also be supplied if travelers do not have their own
  • All included and optional tours will be conducted in accordance with local government regulations
