Alexandria, Egypt

FROM $1,449 PER PERSON | 4 DAYS | $362 PER DAY

Once the second most powerful city of the ancient Mediterranean world, Alexandria was the center of Cleopatra’s world, where she and Marc Antony lived and in defeat took their own lives, she from a poison asp and he by the sword.  Alexandria still has a mystique and cosmopolitan charm that will entrance you. Known as the "Pearl of the Mediterranean," the city’s coastal climate and cultural flavor set it apart from the Egyptian destinations you’ve visited so far. Thanks to its storied past, Alexandria boasts a wealth of cultural and historic sites, many of which you’ll tour during your stay.

Explore the city’s rich past as a center of learning at the celebrated Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Discover the mysterious underground world of its ancient Greco-Roman catacombs. Confront more recent history at the solemn El Alamein War Cemetery. You’ll also enjoy visits to the Alexandria National Museum, Roman Amphitheatre, and Pompey’s Pillar.

We’ll also visit Alexandria’s tallest monument — Pompey’s Pillar — constructed from a single block of red granite from Aswan.
