What to Expect
Moderate Activity Level
Familiar Cultural Immersion
PACING:
  • This trip is moderately paced
  • Your 25-day cruise includes 20 nights on the Ocean Odyssey and 2 nights each in a centrally located hotel in London and Stockholm at the beginning and end of your trip
  • In addition to your arrival and departure cities, you'll visit 16 ports of call: Poole, U.K.; Le Havre, France; Ostend, Belgium; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Kristiansand, Norway; Oslo, Norway; Gothenburg, Sweden; Copenhagen, Denmark, Ronne, Gdansk, Visby, Riga, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm
  • You’ll have plenty of leisure time in the afternoons to relax or explore on your own, as well as two days at sea

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • You should be in relatively good health to fully enjoy this tour
  • This journey does not entail walking great distances, but you will be on your feet for up to four hours for half-day excursions and eight hours for full-day excursions
  • Guided sightseeing involves either walking tours or drives in private air-conditioned motorcoaches, or some combination, with visits to museums and other attractions as noted in the trip detail
  • There are many walking tours into historic city centers. Steps and cobblestones should be expected, as well as occasional steep and/or uneven terrain.
  • This vessel and the tours are not suitable for wheelchairs or other mobility aids

TERRAIN & TRANSPORTATION:
  • Your ship is your main means of transportation between destinations
  • All land transportation is conducted on board deluxe, air-conditioned motorcoaches
  • This expedition has been curated to balance between major attractions and less-traveled ports of Europe and Scandinavia. As such, you’ll delve into the most enigmatic — and often overlooked — histories of the regions visited. For detail on sightseeing and cultural events, see the Included Tours and Cultural Discoveries sections and the day-by-day itinerary

CLIMATE:
  • Europe in the summertime offers weather similar to the United States in the same season. Check weather outlets for the most up-to-date forecast prior to your departure
  • The sun is strong in all our destinations, so sunscreen, sunglasses, and sun hats are musts
  • Stay cool by wearing lightweight fabrics (such as cotton or linen)
  • For protection from the sun, do as the locals do and cover up by wearing longer pants or skirts, and shirts with sleeves
  • Bring a light rain jacket or umbrella
  • At sea it can occasionally be windy. A windbreaker, sweater, or light jacket is recommended

Important Note: Day-by-day itineraries are preliminary and therefore subject to change. If changes occur while on tour, you will be notified by your Cruise Director or regional expert.

Please Note: Ocean cruising is not the same experience as river cruising; as such, you may experience fluctuating tides and weather patterns that may involve some rocking of your vessel. Itineraries will include all activities as planned except in extreme cases that can’t be controlled by your shipboard crew.
