Today you’ll board an overnight flight to Stockholm.

Arrive in Stockholm, Sweden

Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to acclimate before an evening Welcome Briefing. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink, followed by a Welcome Dinner at your hotel.

DAY 3:

Exploring Stockholm

Get acquainted with the irresistible charms and remarkable history of Stockholm, spread across 14 islands knit together by some 57 bridges. On your cultural tour of this “Venice of the North,” you’ll walk through the narrow streets of the delightful Gamla Stan, or Old Town, and enjoy views of Stockholm City Hall and the city’s equally attractive newer sections. Cultural Discovery: Then, visit the fascinating Vasa Museum, where you’ll see the amazing “ghost ship” of the same name — the world’s only fully intact 17th-century warship. The massive vessel sank just offshore on its maiden voyage in 1628. It lay preserved in the mud for three centuries, before being recovered and displayed in its full glory.

DAY 4:

From ABBA to Z: A Swedish Cultural Tour

Today, you’ll get an in-depth taste of life in Sweden’s capital. Cultural Discovery: Visit Abba: The Museum, an interactive experience dedicated to the iconic Swedish pop quartet and their global impact. Then tour the Skansen Open-Air Museum to see how people lived in Sweden before the Industrial Revolution. 

Throughout the day, your fellow cruise tour travelers will be arriving, and you'll join them for tonight's Welcome Dinner. Tomorrow, as they acclimate with a city tour, you still have one more included feature of your pre-trip extension to enjoy: a delicious food culture outing in Stockholm.

DAY 5:

Inside Sweden’s food culture

Enjoy the morning following your own whims and desires, perhaps exploring the waterfront or stopping by the Nobel Museum to learn about the prestigious prize. In the afternoon, an included tour presents Swedish Food Culture. Walking with your guide you’ll stop at food markets, stalls and eateries to sample tasty Swedish delicacies and learn about the national cuisine. Your tastings include four to five different dishes based on the season — perhaps a fika coffee break with pastry, a sampling of artisanal smoked meats, local beer, or a cutting-edge New Nordic version of Swedish meatballs. The balance of the day is at leisure.

Tomorrow, you will join your larger base tour group and proceed with Day 4 of your Stockholm-Copenhagen cruise tour.

Panoramic city tour of Copenhagen

Get acquainted with this charming city on an included panoramic tour. View the famed Little Mermaid statue on her watery perch, visit the Nyhavn canal district, swing by towered and turreted Rosenborg Castle, and contrast that with the more-dignified Amalienborg Castle where Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II resides today. Your tour includes a scenic canal boat ride so you can take in this lovely cityscape from the water. This morning you set off for an excursion to Dragør, a picturesque fishing village on the outskirts of Copenhagen. Your guide will escort you along the narrow, cobbled lanes lined with yellow houses and thatched rooftops, and you’ll pause to sample some local refreshments. Back in Copenhagen, the balance of the day is free. Perhaps you’ll be inspired at the Danish Museum of Art and Design, or shop along the Strøget pedestrian zone.
