One of the most well-respected silk museums in China, the Shanghai Silk Museum was created in 1992 to preserve Chinese sericulture heritage, to share the science and technology of silk production, and of course to display beautiful costumes for visitors to appreciate. The museum was recently renovated, and has many interesting displays including several kimono, silk-making machines, and demonstrations. At the Museum Shop, you can find handmade silk rugs and embroidery, bedding, scarves, pajamas, and more.
