PACING:

The pacing of this trip is moderate
141 nights aboard the 5-star Ocean Odyssey; plus 2 nights in Darwin at the Hilton Darwin (or similar) and 2 nights in Stockholm at the Radisson Collection Strand Stockholm (or similar). Plus, accommodations for overnight excursions, including 1 night in Sri Lanka at the Cinnamon Lodge Habarana (or similar) and 1 night in Luxor at the Hilton Luxor (or similar)
Over the course of 150 days you'll visit dozens of ports of call in 35 different countries. Sightseeing is usually offered in half-day tours, with time to relax every day
There are 17 days at sea when you have ample time to relax and enjoy the amenities on board your luxury expedition vessel
We often cruise overnight but some scenic sailing will be conducted during daylight hours

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

You should be in relatively good health to fully enjoy this tour
This journey does not entail walking for great distances in most destinations but you will be on your feet for an hour or two at a time and sometimes more
Many days feature full-day excursions
Most city sightseeing takes place on air-conditioned coaches with guides
There are several walking tours through archaeological sites, historic centers, and villages where uneven steps and cobblestones should be expected
You will have the opportunity to swim, snorkel, kayak, and ride bikes
This cruise tour is not suitable for those who have difficulty walking or require wheelchairs or other mobility aids. Please refer to Vantage's wheelchair and handicapped traveler policy

TERRAIN & TRANSPORTATION:

Your ship is your main means of transportation between destinations
All land transportation is conducted on board deluxe, air-conditioned motorcoaches
In some locations you may ride along uneven or bumpy roads, especially in more rural areas or at historical sites
You will have several opportunities to enjoy local modes of transportation, including: a Singapore trishaw; a Koh Samui minivan safari; a Kerala houseboat in Alleppey; a tuk-tuk ride in Porbandar; abra water taxi in Dubai; dhow cruises in the Emirates; a horse-drawn carriage in Petra; canal cruises in Amsterdam and Copenhagen; and more

CLIMATE:

Between Darwin and Stockholm, you will be crossing several different climactic zones. Since you will be in tropical or subtropical regions during the winter and early spring; in the dry desert and then Mediterranean climes during the spring; and in western Europe during the late spring; and the Baltics and Scandinavia in early summer, you will be missing the most intense seasons and therefore can expect relatively moderate temperatures
There will be some temperature variations so it is important to pack accordingly, and in general plan on dressing in layers. Please refer to the charts in the Before You Go section for more details
In most of your Southeast Asian destinations the climate is subtropical or tropical, and the farther south you travel, the more abundant the rainfall and high humidity. On the Arabian Peninsula, you will be visiting desert locales where the weather is hot and dry, with little or no rainfall. Evenings are always cooler and often quite pleasant since there is no humidity. In Europe, you can expect some humidity and the chance of rainfall
During your days at sea it can occasionally be windy. A windbreaker, sweater, or light jacket is recommended
During your time in the Baltics and Scandinavia, during June, you can expect increasingly long hours (up to 18) of sunlight. Though not the peak of the midnight sun, it still means you will enjoy long daylight hours for exploring
The sun is strong in all our destinations, so sunscreen, sunglasses, and sun hats are musts
Stay cool by wearing lightweight fabrics (such as cotton or linen)
For protection from the sun, do as the locals do and cover up by wearing longer pants or skirts, and shirts with sleeves
Bring a light rain jacket or umbrella
